Flying in Switzerland

A couple of iris photographed near Geneva today, 10th June:



This is the earliest I have seen the species.

A few ilia were on the wing too. This is more normal - ilia is generally earlier.


In my local woods, some are pupating, some might just be flying, though I haven't seen any here yet, and some are still earlier instars. I found at least two that spent the winter as 2nd instar and have been behind all spring.
