Since here are many experts in finding overwintering larva of purple emperors, can anyone provide some details what kind of growth A. ilia prefers for laying eggs?
I've tried to scan an entire habitat, but since I don't know what sized asps I should focus on I have no results yet. I wonder if the species prefers younger growth (like I believe A. iris does), or if caterpillars can be found on adult asps.
