Emperoring this year had been a long-distance pursuit – until now (5 July). Multiple visits to Abbotts Wood yielded tantalising displays of tree-top activity, visible only through paparazzi shots (see below, by Alan Cox).
The down-time reading has been decent – and Bow, the miniature dachshund, has picked up some tips: a male emperor landed two-feet away from her, possibly enjoying the comfort break she had taken earlier that morning.

Think I bumped into Bow and your other half today with my dog Flossie - only high level encounters though!
