In the space of 30 minutes this afternoon I saw three females ‘stricking’
Sallow in a North Bucks wood. The last female appeared to lay several eggs the
last of which was low enough to allow me to take this photo of the egg. The
freshly laid egg shows no sign of developing the distinctive purple bands.
