Northants locals Doug Goddard & Andy Wylde looked in vain for the first iris in and around Fermyn Woods today, including one wood which contains a good 'master tree' assembly point and rarely draws blank in season. They were lucky to get a decent day - it was foul down south.
Apparently loads of people were trawling round Fermyn Woods, largely unaware that the butterfly hasn't started there yet.
This blog needs promoting...
