Three
hours of reasonable brightness produced only a single sighting of a
male in the best area of Fermyn Woods, indicating that the butterfly has
scarcely got going there yet. Several other observers drew a blank.

Admiral numbers continue to increase steadily, and good to find a
couple of freshly emerged Purple Hairstreak along the ride verges.
My guess is that there will be a decent hatch of iris here on the next decent day - if we ever get one...
